The Small Press Expo, North America’s Premiere Independent Cartooning and Comic Arts Festival is just around the corner!

Come September 14th-15th, droves of CCS students, alumni and faculty will be headed down to both attend the show and sell their work. Among those selling there work, many will be debuting new work!

Here are a few more of the CCS books that will be debuting at the show.

Can’t Lose: A Friday Night Lights Fanzine – edited by Melissa Mendes (Class of 2010)

A zine published by Oily Comics, Can’t Lose is completely dedicated to one of the greatest television shows ever:  Friday Night Lights.  This zine includes comics, drawings, and other contributions by Dan Zettwoch, Jesse Lucas, Nomi Kane, Sean Ford, Sam Spina, Jon Shaw, Henry Eudy, Laura Beck, Minty Lewis, Derik Badman, Gretta Johnson, Jeff Lok, Breanne Trammell, Julia Gualtieri, Denis St. John, RJ Casey, and Lucius Wisniewski. Stranger Knights is an anthology of short genre comics featuring work by Bill Volk, Bryan Stone, Mary Soper, and Ann Lewis.

In this volume: A wizard is forced by her mother to demonstrate what she’s learned. Funny animals plot to steal a special banana. A headless suit of armor is discovered. A space princess sets out to rescue herself.

A continuing monthly feature in the fine arts magazine Au Courant, this collection brings together the first eight installments of Rio Aubry Taylor’s graphic narrative LOVE, CURRENTLY. LOVE, CURRENTLY tells the story of Lan Zhibran, an emotional drop-out who must deal with the turmoil of losing his college aged daughter to a terminal illness. Living in the dregs of Miami’s filth, he must find a way to put his mind at ease lest he die in the scorching sand of his own guilt-made-hell.
